Building wins when: - you have cross-tool workflows and heavy integration needs - adoption depends on matching how your team actually works - you're paying for multiple tools that don't connect well - the SaaS vendor roadmap doesn't match your urgency - you need data ownership, audit trails, and control

The hidden cost of SaaS

SaaS often looks cheap until you include: - integration work (and ongoing maintenance) - internal manual work to bridge gaps - workflow compromises that reduce adoption - "tool sprawl" across departments

The de-risked way to build (fast)

A good build plan is not a blank check. It's staged: - **Discovery (1–2 weeks):** map workflows, define success metrics, identify constraints - **MVP (3–6 weeks):** first usable system tied to one core workflow - **Scale (ongoing):** expand to other teams and automate more steps

What to ask any vendor (including us)
